North to the Al Aqza mosque on Temple Mount there is a small fountain used for drinking and purification before prayers.

It was built in the Mamluk period in the 14th century and called “El Cas” (glass).

According to Islam every Muslim must purify himself before he prays.  This is why in every mosque has this kind of purification structure.
