For those who have had the honor of standing inside the Holy Sepulcher know that it is truly a powerful and moving experience.
Every day of the week, there are hundreds of visitors inside the Church and outside by the courtyard. You can barely feel the hundreds of other people at the Holy Sepulcher and the only sound you hear is the hushed whispering of people praying.
The Church is light up by columns of tall standing candles that many of the visitors light upon entering the Church. The candles are referred to as votive candles, and symbolize that someone is praying about something in particular on behalf of themselves or others.
