We went back down to the valley, and then the guide started to attach a name and a historical label to every tel and rock we reached: 'This was the Field of Blood. These rock carvings were temples and altars to Molech. Here they sacrificed children. Over there is Zion Gate. Here is the Tyropeon Valley. Here is the Valley of Jehosaphat - on your right is the Well of Ayub...'

With these words Mark Twain, possibly the funn! iest and most cynical traveller ever, describes the role of the guide in Jerusalem. However, Mark Twain never got to know me. If he would have joined my tours, he would have learned that guiding isn't just a matter of saying 'here is'.

A whole world would have opened up to him: intrigues, stories, betrayals and love affairs hiding everywhere, almost always. As self-deprecating humour is almost always an effective weapon, ironically, I very much enjoy using Twain's quotes about guides.

I invite everyone: men, women and children, hi-tech workers and tillers of the land, Ashkenazim and Sephardim to join me for a few hours of storytelling in Jerusalem, full of surprises. I won't always stick to the historical truth, for what is it worth compared to a good juicy story... But I promise it will be interesting.

Amongst the tours on offer: Ein Kerem, The Markets of Jerusalem, The First Mugrabi Quarter Outside the Walls, A Cool Tour of the City Centre at Night. The tours include love stories, religion, sorcery and much more.
