Bible Lands Museum
Situated in the city's cultural heart, the Bible Lands Museum houses a priceless collection of original ancient art and archaeology from the lands of the Bible.
The Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem’s permanent exhibition displays an exciting journey through the cultures of the people of the Bible, bringing greater appreciation and understanding of the biblical stories in the context of human history. This is the only museum in the world that presents the history of the Ancient Near East from a biblical perspective.
A vibrant cultural center, the Museum presents world class temporary exhibitions, weekly lectures on archaeology, history and the Bible, free daily guided tours and popular cultural events. The Museum is renowned for its innovative educational programs for all ages including exciting holiday programs and special children's activities.
The best way to visit the Museum is to take advantage of one of the free guided tours daily at 10:30 in English and at 11:00 in Hebrew. The BLMJ is also open late on Wednesdays, and guided tours are given in English 17:30 and in Hebrew at 18:00. Additional languages and private tours are available on request.
Families with children (9 and up) can enjoy touring the Museum with "Shamshi", a lovable animated wanderer from ancient times who unravels the mysteries of the museum in an educational comic-book that is fun and informational for adults, too.
Exciting family oriented tours, Bar / Bat Mitzvah events and Educational enrichment programs for schools, round out the on-going activities in the Museum. Conference facilities and an elegant location for private receptions following a tour in the museum offer a unique way to celebrate special events or occasions.
