If you’ve ever been to the Armenian Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem, you may have noticed that above the wooden door at the entrance of the quarter that there are window-like engravings on the stone wall with carved out crosses and ancient inscriptions below.
These Armenian inscriptions are known as “katshkerim” and  have great historical and artistic importance as they have an actual meaning and tell of holy burial places in close proximity to the Armenian quarter.
