Donkeys in the Old City

The Old City is an intricate maze of narrow and winding alleys and cobblestone roadIt’s not a rare sight to see donkeys being led through alleyways carrying oil tanks (among other things such as food, clothing, merchandise) on their backs.

Until today, some of the Old City’s residents use traditional heating systems in their homes to warm their houses in the winter – which is why you’ll see the donkeys carrying oil tanks on their backs.
